Natural disasters often happen suddenly and without warning. And man-made emergencies can be terrifying. Quickly gathering up your family and getting to a safe place should be your #1 priority, not searching for emergency preparedness supplies.
That’s why we think these disaster preparedness kits can be life savers. We suggest having one at home, work and in each vehicle. Checkout some of the best emergency kits that we’ve reviewed below.
We Suggest Adding On To These
Below are some of the best survival kits for sale that we found on Amazon (even an earthquake backpack). We suggest using one of these as a base and then building onto it to include other necessities. For example, some of these survival kits don’t have hygiene kits or fire supplies. These are things you could easily add to one of these kits to make it a complete bag.

LuminAID Solar Inflatable Light
Invited by two architecture students shortly after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010, the LuminAID is the perfect alternative to having a flashlight or lantern during an emergency. This patented technology provides bright light via solar power (so it doesn’t require you to need power or stock up on batteries).
It’s waterproof up to 1 meter deep and floats which comes in handy during emergencies that involve rain or flooding. It folds up for easy storage, and at only 2.9 ounces it’s lightweight and easy to transport. It also has a handle and holes so you can carry it or use rope or a clip to hang it wherever light is needed.
LuminAID partners with organizations around the world to give light where it’s needed most, and we love that they are a mission-driven company who pride themselves on helping others.
Below is a table of all the emergency kits and a survival gear list of each kits’ contents. Remember, just because it doesn’t have one item doesn’t mean you can’t purchase that item to add to the bag. Building onto these bags and personalizing them is how you can get the most out of them.

Know How To Do CPR
Another good idea is to familiarize yourself with how to do CPR. Here is a quick intro video from the American Heart Association.
Be Extra Prepared
The American Red Cross suggests you have enough supplies to sustain each person for three days. This includes food, water, emergency supplies and other essentials for survival. If you are caught without these necessary supplies it could be life threatening. That’s why we recommend having survival gear in the most common places you spend time: home, work and in your vehicles.
