Yunmai Premium Smart Scale ReviewYunmai Premium Smart Bluetooth Scale

View on Amazon

The Yunmai Premium Smart Bluetooth Scale comes in a very close second in our smart scale reviews.

Like our number one pick, this scale falls into the same price range and syncs with popular fitness apps via a Bluetooth connection.

Not only is the Yunmai an accurate weight and body fat scale, but it also measures BMI, muscle, hydration, bone mass and more.

What kept this scale out of our top spot? The user complaints about the Yunmai app crashing frequently and its 1-year warranty compared to 5 years for the Weight Gurus.

Cons

  • Great value
  • Syncs with Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, Google Fit and Apple Health apps
  • Large LCD
  • 396-pound weight capacity

What About Fitbit, Garmin, Nokia, And OardioBase?

Below, you’ll find our reviews of some other popular smart scales that didn’t make it into our top 3 rankings this year. Be sure to read them if you’ve been considering a specific brand. Don’t see your favorite brand? Ask us to review it in the comments.

Fitbit Aria WiFi Smart Scale Review

Fitbit Aria WiFi ScaleView on Amazon

If you are a Fitbit fan, the Fitbit Aria WiFi Scale is a handy companion to help you with your weight loss and fitness goals.

This scale tracks weight, BMI, lean mass, and body fat percentages and automatically loads your stats into your Fitbit app. It also syncs with many other fitness apps.

The main problems with the Aria, according to many user reviews on Amazon, are its faulty WiFi connection (constantly going out) and a short scale life (12-18 months on average) on top of a warranty for only one year.

Pros

Cons

  • Syncs with Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, Google Fit and Apple Health apps
  • Decent size platform and display
  • On the pricey side
  • Difficult setup process
  • Weight limit is 350 pounds (compared to 400 for other top smart scales)
  • Many customer complaints about connectivity problems and the scale dying after a year
  • Warranty is only 1 year

Pricing

  • Check Amazon for availability
  • Includes 4 AA batteries
  • Up to 8 users
  • Dimensions: 1.3″H x 12.3″L x 12.3″W
  • Weight limit: 350 lbs
  • Black or white
  • 1-year warranty

Garmin Index Smart Scale Review

Garmin Index Smart WiFi ScaleView on Amazon

The Garmin Index Smart WiFi Scale tracks more body measurements than many other smart scales, including weight, BMI, body fat and water percentages, skeletal muscle mass, and bone mass.

This smart bathroom scale is wider than most and is much easier to set up than the Fitbit Aria, and it syncs your data to their Garmin Connect online fitness community via Bluetooth and WiFi.

But the Garmin Index has a bad reputation for connectivity issues, and it’s expensive. We think you can find better deals elsewhere.

Pros

Cons

  • Syncs with Garmin wearable fitness products
  • Large LCD
  • 400-pound weight capacity
  • Wide platform
  • Battery life up to 9 months
  • Expensive
  • Only syncs with MyFitnessPal (no other apps)
  • Hard to find your measurements in the app
  • Many users report WiFi connection problems
  • A third of Amazon reviewers give Garmin low ratings (1-2 stars)
  • Warranty is only 1 year

Pricing

  • Check Amazon for availability
  • Includes 4 AA batteries
  • Up to 16 users
  • Dimensions: 1.2″H x 12.2″L x 13.8″W
  • Weight limit: 400 lbs
  • Black or white
  • 1-year warranty

Nokia Body+ WiFi Scale Review

Nokia Body+ Body Composition WiFi ScaleView on Amazon

The Nokia Body+ Body Composition WiFi Scale is the former best-selling Withings Smart Body Analyzer, and this scale used to be the one to beat.

But since Nokia bought out Withings, things have gone downhill, according to many users and reviewers. While the scale still measures weight, fat mass, muscle mass, water and bone mass, the problem lies in the Nokia app that’s supposed to sync with the scale via WiFi or Bluetooth.

A handful of users report no issues, but a vast majority can’t get the app to work properly (or at all). If Nokia can get its app in shape, this scale could again be a top contender.

Pros

Cons

  • Syncs with Fitbit, MyFitnessPal and Apple Health apps
  • Good size LCD
  • 396-pound weight capacity
  • Wide platform
  • Integrated nutrition tracking
  • On the pricey side
  • Nokia app doesn’t sync correctly
  • Users report connectivity issues
  • More than 1/3 of Amazon reviews are low (1-2 stars)
  • Warranty is only 1 year

Pricing

  • $99.95
  • Includes 4 AAA batteries
  • Up to 8 users
  • Dimensions: .9″H x 12.8″L x 12.8″W
  • Weight limit: 396 lbs
  • Black or white
  • 1-year warranty

QardioBase Smart Digital Scale Review

QardioBase Smart Digital Bathroom ScaleView on Amazon

The QardioBase Smart Digital is another smart bathroom scale that measures body mass index and full body composition, including body fat percentage, muscle, water and bone mass. And it syncs with the QardioBase app on multiple devices via Bluetooth and WiFi.

However, this scale suffers similar problems that other “top” scales do, namely connection issues and the device dying too soon. In fact, this scale gets such poor reviews on Amazon; we can’t recommend it at this time. QardioBase 2 was recently released, and we’ll keep our eye out to see if it’s an improved version.

Pros

Cons

  • Works with iOS, Android, Kindle, Android Wear and Apple Watch (requires Bluetooth 4.0)
  • Large LCD
  • 3-year warranty
  • Expensive
  • Round design is hard to balance on
  • Doesn’t sync with Fitbit or MyFitnessPal
  • 40% of Amazon reviews give QardioBase 1 star
  • Many users report that the scale stops working within days and months of purchase

Pricing

  • Includes 8 AAA batteries
  • Multiple users
  • Dimensions: .8″H x 12.6″L x 12.6″W
  • Weight limit: 396 lbs
  • Black or white
  • 3-year limited warranty
