Link Interactive offers home security at a competitive monthly price. Unlike most providers, you don’t start with bundled equipment packages. Instead, they let you customize your system to fit your home. This way, you pay only for what you need.
But how does it stack up to the competition? Our home security experts dive in and review this provider with all the details you’ll need to make an informed decision.

If the power goes out in your home, battery backup will keep your Link Interactive system on and your home protected. Link Interactive has an eight-hour battery backup for its 2Gig Go!Control panel and 24-hour battery backup for its IQ Panel 2 (24 hours is the standard in home security).
As soon as the power goes out, Link Interactive sends you a text alerting you of the outage. The battery backup will automatically kick in. The backup battery is rechargeable, so once power is restored, the battery will recharge back to eight or 24 hours, so it’s ready for any future needs.
The entire system will continue to work during a power outage unless the equipment requires a high-speed internet connection or AC power (e.g., cameras). Door/window sensors, motion sensors, glass break sensors, etc., don’t require internet or AC power, so they’ll work with battery backup and you’ll be informed of any triggers to these devices.
Below are functions you can control within the Link Interactive home security app (powered by Alarm.com, our experts explain this platform). Please know that to use some of the features you must have certain equipment. For example, you cannot lock/unlock doors unless you have smart locks in place that are compatible with your security system.
- Arm/disarm entire system or individual sensors
- View detailed event history and alerts
- Updated weather forecast
- Geofencing, which automatically adjusts your security and automation equipment after you’ve left a set radius of your home or “geo-fence”
This video explains the Link Interactive Geofencing feature, which ties together your location with smart alerts and home automation functionality so you can be more secure and save energy at the same time.
- Lock/unlock doors (including opening/closing garage door)
- Control thermostat
- View live stream
- View recorded video
- View doorbell camera
Not Supported By App
- Smart plug control
- Create programs/schedules
Unlike most home security companies, Link Interactive doesn’t have pricing plans that bundle equipment at a discount. You individually select the equipment you need and then select a corresponding monitoring plan. The advantage here is that you don’t have to pay for equipment you don’t need. It’s also easy to add on components later.

We wanted a home security system for our house and I chose Link Interactive because they offered the best equipment at the best price. Their representatives were good, and the installation was simple and straightforward. The quality of the equipment is very good, too. I customized the package and got the right amount of doors and window sensors. We had an issue with one sensor, but they sent me a new one. My house was broken into two years ago, and so Link Interactive has been a good sense of security. I feel a lot more secure now. Overall, it is simple and reliable. – William, Consumer Affairs 3/23/2020
Best service from ANY company, not just security, but ANY company. Very prompt, knowledgable, courteous, and very helpful. This includes support and alarm monitoring. I recommend them to everyone. – Nicholas M., Yelp 5/29/2018
Link Interactive’s salesperson did not tell me that their equipment had to be mounted. Plus the equipment came with totally different cameras than what I asked for. I didn’t want the service anymore and I shipped their equipment back. They charged me for the equipment and I never got refunded. – Shakia, Consumer Affairs 4/20/2020
After 4 years using this service in 3 locations I have to look back and realize how many problems and wasted money went to this company. The “bonus” they gave me “expired” before I could use it. The “suspension” I put on the service to switch locations started back up automatically without notice. Even when I went to cancel my month-to-month contract they said they can’t stop the service until I pay the full balance (which must be illegal), so I fought that, and they are threatening to send my bill to collections the very day they unnecessarily strung my contract out til. – Jaron A., Yelp 10/21/2019

Do I Need Cell Service For Link Interactive To Work?
Link Interactive uses cellular monitoring (the best, most secure kind), but that does not mean you have to be subscribed to a cell phone plan to use it. You will need to live in an area that is capable of cellular reception, however, so the Link Interactive system can communicate with its monitoring station.
Link Interactive has a lot of things going for it. It has 100% customizable plans, many equipment options, and all plans have cellular monitoring. However, its customer service isn’t as highly touted as our top picks, and it has a shorter warranty period.
So how does it fare versus the competition? Find out if it made our experts’ picks for best home security system.
