You wake up to start your day and with the press of a button your lights are on, the coffee pot starts brewing and the thermostat is adjusted. Is this heaven?! No, it’s just what it’s like to have a smart home—wonderful! Wouldn’t this be nice to have? With most of these systems you can select “scenes” for specific events like waking up, going to sleep, hosting a dinner party, etc. So with the press of a button your preferences adjust accordingly.
What Devices Can You Add to Hubs?
There are countless smart gadgets you can add to your smarthome hub including lights (read our Smart Light Bulb review article), cameras, locks, switches and more. We’ve chosen some of our favorite smart home technology in this article, be sure to take a look!
Wink Hub Review
#1
Wink has the best reviews we’ve seen for a smart hub, so choosing it as the best home automation hub was easy. It supports wifi, Bluetooth LE, z-wave, ZigBee, Lutron ClearConnect and Kidde. You can connect your blinds, lights, locks and more to this smarthome hub. One of many customers’ favorite features is its integration with Amazon Echo so you can change the lights in your home via voice activation. The biggest complaint is that the Quirky Wink doesn’t always work, but we don’t dock them too much for this because every smart house hub we reviewed has this complaint.

Insteon Review
You can control your Insteon hub from your smartphone, tablet and Apple Watch. Setup one-touch settings for an event and have the lights brighten to 50% to help you wake up. Set your kids’ lights to turn off automatically after they’ve left the house for the school day. You can truly customize your settings with this hub. It supports both the Insteon thermostat and the Nest thermostat. With the Insteon hub you can control Insteon light bulbs, wall switches, outlets and more. You also receive notifications from motion, door/window, water leak and smoke sensor while you’re away from your home.

WEMO product are made by Belkin, and their product line consists of smart switches, motion sensors, light switches, cameras and more. So, if you’re not worried about a hub, WEMO may be a good option for you.
