Wrap Carrier For Travel & Newborns: Boba Review

Boba WrapView on Amazon

The Boba Wrap is one long piece of fabric that you fold a specific way to carry your baby. It comes with instructions, but I’d recommend watching YouTube videos, like the one below, to make sure you are doing it correctly (It wasn’t until I watched a video!). I thought the videos were clearer and more helpful than the instructions that came with the wrap.

Our Personal Experience

I purchased the Boba Wrap for my son because I thought he’d like the simplicity of it, no bulky material getting in the way and soft fabric holding him close to me. For a newborn, this was perfect. Getting the appropriate tightness can be tricky. Too tight, and your baby may be uncomfortable. Too loose and it may not feel secure, and your baby may move around too much.

It took some time for me to learn how to wrap the carrier properly and put my son in it on my own. Nothing a few tries couldn’t fix! I wouldn’t recommend it for heavier babies because the wrap style doesn’t feel the most secure, and it can hurt your back after a while. However, each person has their own preferences. – Kimberly, Safe Smart Living

The great thing about this wrap is it can work on most body types, and it’s easy to share with others. This is especially good during the postpartum phase when you may still look seven months pregnant, but a few weeks later, that could all change.

The Boba Wrap can be useful for travel since it packs down into a small bag and is lightweight. It is also a suitable carrier for newborns since it holds the child close to you (belly to belly). The Boba Wrap works for babies up to 35 pounds or 36 months old.

The Ergobaby is great for larger body types. You can use it for babies and toddlers weighing 12 to 33 pounds. If you want to use it for a newborn, you’ll need to purchase the insert (linked below in the price section).

It has excellent low back support, and the shoulder straps have extra padding to help distribute your baby’s weight. This is a top pick for c-section moms since it has a wide, wraparound waistband. Also, mom’s say that breastfeeding is easy with this carrier.

The lightweight mesh helps keep you and your baby cool. You can wear your baby facing inward or outward, so they can explore the world around them easily. The waistband adjusts from 26 to 52 inches, shoulder straps 28 to 46 inches.

For Newborn: Baby K’Tan Breeze Review

Baby K'Tan BreezeView on Amazon

Baby K’Tan Breeze is a wrap style carrier without the confusing wrap part. It has a double-loop design to make it easy to put on.

This carrier is different from others since you must purchase the size that fits you (XXS to XL). This is a drawback since it prevents you from sharing babywearing with others in your household.

However, it’s still an excellent pick for carrying your newborn. Babies love being belly to belly with Mom or Dad, and this carrier allows for that. But, parents with toddlers up to 35 pounds can also use this wrap.

Pros

Cons

  • Easier to use than a traditional wrap that is one long piece of fabric
  • 50% lightweight mesh to help keep you cool
  • Machine washable
  • Can breastfeed while wearing
  • Not one size fits all
  • Not the most supportive for when the child gets heavier
