America’s First Choice (AFC) Home Club jumped from servicing only two states, to servicing all but two states in only one year. This helped the company quickly moved up in our rankings. But how far did they go? Find out in our review.
AFC Home Club covers a large number of appliances and systems and has a service call fee starting at $75. And the company is transparent in its offerings, which makes us ask, “are they too good to be true?”

AFC provided timely help with my plumbing issue. Their staff was professional, courteous, and efficient. They made the process of dealing with my issue very easy for me. I enjoyed the experience of working with them and will recommend others looking for a home warranty to consider using them. – Mark D., BBB 4/23/2020
We have lived here about a year now. Wanted to get a home warranty plan. (Name redacted) was very nice and explained everything to us. Easy to set up our new plan! As we are just starting with America’s First Choice I can’t speak to the quality of the coverage yet. Thank you! – Rachel, Consumer Affairs 4/17/2020
Bad experience. My sales guy didn’t explain that there were a total of 60 days in the waiting period before my full coverage would start. I was told 30 days then I would be able to make claims. I called to schedule service and was told that since I was still inside of my 60 day waiting period, AFC would only pay up to $150 to cover what ever the technician said we needed. This was not explained to me on the front end so basically I’m losing money on this deal and I can’t cancel the service request unless i can provide prof that my issue was fixed. AFC has hosed me basically and I didn’t even get to use the service that I’ve been paying on for the last 50 days. – Ramy Z., BBB 5/4/2020
Still unresolved plumbing/toilet issue. The service was so bad I would give zero stars if I could. The issue is still unresolved. Nobody can tell me what’s covered. Stories change all the time. My manager told me it would be covered. And now the plumber was out this morning and he couldn’t get approval. I’m ready to cancel my service. – Grace, Consumer Affairs 3/20/2020
Tips For Buying Your First Home
Buying your first home is a big decision. We recommend negotiating a 12-month home warranty into your offer so you aren’t faced with a large financial burden during that first year of home ownership. Below are some more tips for first time home buyers.
How Does AFC Home Club Stack Up To The Competition?
This home warranty provider previously offered coverage only in North Carolina and South Carolina and had fairly decent reviews. Since its transition to offering coverage in 48 states the company has had a few more negative reviews than we’d like to see.
However, it seems they also know what it takes to provide great service. We hope that with time they can improve their reputation. We’ll keep a watchful eye on them to see how their service stands up to rapid growth over the next few years.
